I'm starting to think that architectural photography might be your forte, Elizabeth. This shot would be a stunner if you just cloned out the cars, the light poles with those flags on them, the stop light on the right and the bum on the bus bench way on the right. :-)
Seriously it's a very good shot of this historic building. In California anything that was built after 1940 is considered historic. Anything around here that was constructed in 1874 would have been destroyed by now by an earthquake or condemned because it didn't meet seismic standards.
I see what appears to be some graduated haloing above the building where the clear blue sky changes from to a darker blue. One of the many reasons that landscapes around here are so tough is because we rarely get clouds in the summertime. If there's something that's not perfect, it'll show up in a clear blue sky. I've found that one out the hard way.
This is the second image ive seen of Grand Rapids recently. I looks like such an interesting place! The perspective you have on this is perfect and that sky! We dont see clear blue sky like that in England! Even when it is clear it is very such a deep blue! However as Roger said there is a little bit of halo-ing and also a can see quite a lot of noise in the sky too. However i dont find it detracts too much from what is a lovely shot :)
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust". Psalm 91: 1 and 2
They just don't make 'em like that anymore, do they? I love the perspective in this image. Cloning out the cars, etc would be a big job here. Getting the shot earlier in the morning might eliminate the traffic, but that looks like a busy street to contend with. All in all, well done!
I really like shots of landmarks from around the world. Thanks for sharing this one. The building in the back is titled which may be caused by lens distortion. I am not sure. Great colors and a perfect angle you chose. The people and cars do no bother me.
