Tenaya Creek Canyon from Half Dome by whttiger25
The view northeast from the summit of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, CA. Highly recommend this hike if you are in VERY good shape and bring lots of water. Here is an image I took last year from the other side of the canyon looking at Half Dome (where I'm standing in this picture) for some more perspective.
Hetch Hetchy Resevoir by whttiger25
A view from the trail along the northwest edge of the Hetch Hetchy Resevoir in the more deserted northwest side of Yosemite National Park, California. This was taken in mid October (last weekend), with a definite fall dryness, and cold crispness to the air. You could definitely feel winter approaching. That's Kolana Rock smack in the middle. It rises more than 2000 feet over the water.
Out Of Stone by Zyzyx
another photo of Yosemite, this one is about the trees that grow out of the granite, amazing.

Some nice waterfall action near Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, Yosemite. Thanks to all who view and comment.
Tribute to Ansel 2 by Dj_Creat
My second shot at Yosemite, a slightly more recognisable scene. I think my biggest failing on my entire journey was to not invest in a tripod so that i would not have to suffer some of the hand shake blurring that could have avoided. Once again all comments are very welcome.
Yosemite 2009 by Mindstormer
I went with my class to Yosemite for a short break and took a few pictures. Here's a panorama I made from about 8 photos.

Vernal Falls by kschadt
Shot at Vernal Falls in Yosemite Nat'l Park, hiked in a few miles to get the shot. It was so misty that I could only take one shot before the lense got too wet. Great hike though!
Yosemite Waterfall Behind Sunrays by PhotoKandi
To my dear Maria (Trin on Caedes). So last night I sended a bunch of new photo's of me, and she said she wanted this one at the first post, so here it is :) I made it in the summer of july 2005. Was a bit hard to capture, so let me know if it's well done, if you want ;) All comments are welcome, even if they're negative, thanks :)
Tuolumne River 2 by trisweb
In Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park -- where every snapshot is perfect. :-)
Clouds Rest (revised) by whttiger25
This concludes the pictures from my trip to Mt. Whitney. I took your suggestions, mainly to work on illuminating the foreground trees. Turned otu to be really easy with just a fill light adjustment and a slight increase to exposure. Couldn't push it too far though without things looking out of whack. PJ, I didn't have time to experiment with HDR but it is still on my todo list. Also cropped it a bit to get the peak in the upper left third and Yosemite valley descending to the lower right third. Lines, Patti... :) If you have extra time, download the 3000 pixel version and peruse the details of the granite face of Clouds Rest. There is a straightforward trail to the summit from behind the mountain, but don't you think it'd be a bit more exciting to climb it from this side?
Lyell River - Yosemite by djholmes
Hello friends, long time! Sorry for my long absence, but as it turns out the hard drive failure was only the precurser for a much larger failure in my life. Don't worry, I'm doing just fine and I hope to be able to spend a little more time here in the relatively near future. I took this shot a few weeks ago on a weekend trip to the high sierra camps of Yosemite. This is one fork of the Lyell River, taken near Tuolumne Meadows. Thanks to all who view and comment.

Lembert Dome by trisweb
In Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite Nat. Park California. Lembert Dome stands above everything else for miles around, and was left standing by a glacier which was deeper than the dome itself thousands of years ago. It eroded away the sediment and softer rock, but left the harder granite, polishing its surface as smooth as glass. You find this "glacial polish" all over the area, and you can still see the grooves and scratches from the rocks caught in the ice, a testament to the power of the glaciers.
Upper Yosemite Falls by Twistedlight
Upper Yosemite Falls last fall. Not much water but the morning light is dramatic.
A place to Reflect. by Kyle_G
This picture was taken outside of yosemite national park on the way to Tioga Pass. Perfectly calm and crisp morning. Perfect for a photo.

Tribute to Ansel by Dj_Creat
I recently travelled the world and on my travels, I happened upon an Ansel Adams gallery in Vegas. Shortly afterwards, I visited the setting of many of his famous pictures, Yosemite National Park. I had an idea of taking a few photos in B&W to emulate the man himself. Although my shots are not of the same quality, I would like any comments on how I could improve. This shot in particular was very diffucult to capture as the light was in such contrasts. I think I spent a good 20 minutes sprawled on a very uneven rock to get the shot. Please also see my second shot called Tribute to Ansel 2
Serene by ryzst

Yosemite Half Dome by shardy
This is a picture of the Half Dome at Yomesite National Park. I changed the exposure on the camera a little bit to make it a bit darker, so also there is a bluer sky.

The Three Levels by steen
I took this shot a few years ago on a family vacation to Yosemite. I don't think we were there yet, but I don't quite remember were we were anyways. Somewhere in California? All I remember is having to go to the bathroom really badly, and that's why we stopped :)

Also while at Boy Scout Camp, I captured this adult leader enjoying some down time. Our troop brought 37 scouts and 6 adult leaders which I was one of. The camp was located on Shaver Lake on the western face of the Sierras near Yosemite.

Damaged Beauty by Calypso
I took this picture in a place called McGee Creek (it's about an hours drive from Yosemite), something happened to this lovely creature and it's wing was torn. So I decided to take a picture of it, more so to serve as a reminder of the time I spent there, it's a beautiful place!

A cloudy morning in Yosemite National Park, May 1977.
The Falls by Flmngseabass
While at Yosemite 2 years ago with my daughter and g-kids we drove on up to Glacier Point and this is part of the view from there. The falls are quite beautiful from here as they are from anywhere for that matter but I decided to frame them in the boulders rather than just out in the open for effect. Did it work?:):)I hope you like how this turned out. ACW as usual. Reworked in P.N, Picnik and Photofiltre.Have a great day. BB

Tuolumne River by scarecrow
The last time I visited Yosemite 2 years ago. My mother was dying of brain cancer and wanted to see her beloved Tuolumne Meadows. We stopped at the bridge over this span of the river. She marveled at the colors, the textures, the geology, the beauty. I've spent enough time over my life in this area that no image can truly capture its beauty. Ansel Adams came close but truly needs to be experienced in person.

High Country by goo100
I don't remember the name of the lake but this is off the beaten path in Yosemite's high counrty (My soul's home).
Where Flash the Legions of the Sun by illuminatiscott
This reminds me of the poem: Dark hills at evening in the west, Where sunset hovers like a sound Of golden horns that sang to rest Old bones of warriors under ground, Far now from all the bannered ways Where flash the legions of the sun, You fade--as if the last of days Were fading, and all wars were done. Edwin Arlington Robinson This was in Northern California between Yosemite and San Fransisco, July 2009
Dreamland by quartzite
A holiday snap offering. Yosemite National Park from Glacier Point. A beautiful and much photographed view point visited by many. This was taken just after sunset (just heading into twilight) and I have blended the top and bottom a little to make it a softer background image for my PC desktop.
Yosemite Meadows by jono00
A meadow. In Yosemite.
Fuzzy Concept by trisweb
Part 2 of my photography quote/typography series. [ See the previous image... ] It's glacial polish in Yosemite NP, if you're curious. And the quote is Ansel Adams of course. The hardest part of this was finding a photo worthy of placing his words onto. I couldn't. So I used the most understated image I could find, and modified it appropriately. Hope you like it; more to come.

All Bark, No Bite by soccerflash6
Taken inside Yosemite National Park in California. Just one of the large trees in the area. Such a beautiful place. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Valley Floor by goo100
One really has to live in Yosemite Valley for the summer to experience it. You can't just make a day trip of it. I was a college kid working for Yosemite Park & Curry Co. living in the tent housing for 3 months in 1981. That was amazing.
Grass, Trees and Sun by illuminatiscott
This was taken in Northern California near Yosemite National Park on July 1st, 2009.
Madame Butterfly Pansies by bethoid
I couldn't help it...the first image I saw here was not the perky smiling faces described in gardening brochures, but rather dozens of squinting Yosemite Sams, that cartoon sheriff who's always after Bugs Bunny! (hint: the orange center is his nose)
Yosemite Range by lythrum
This is a view from high in the Yosemite mountains. The photographer was my late husband who would have been happy to share his work.
California Sunset by Squadron56
Sierra Foothills just outside of Yosemite Park
Stop Me by IntrepidOutlook
This is on the ledge trail that was abandoned (officially) long ago. It's the third way to get to glacier point via trails from the Yosemite Valley. The trail offers probably the only view of Nevada Falls and Yosemite Falls within the same peripheral.
Half Dome by Flmngseabass
We've all seen it a hundred times either being there or in a picture somewhere.I prefer being there as I was to take this shot. I took my daughter and her two kids to Yosemite in June of 2006 and of course had a blast.I took about 140 pictures so get ready!! J/K. This is looking east from Glacier Point and if you've ever been there you know it never does it justice but what else can we do??? Enjoy. BB
The View by Flmngseabass
2 Years ago I went to Yosemite with my daughter and her two children and when you approach the canyon from the west on highway 120 this is the opening view into the park. Pictures will never do it justice as you well know if you've been here. Hope you enjoy. BB
Trock by Flmngseabass
In the Sunol Regional Wilderness area south of here where we live in Walnut Creek is a wonderful hiking place with a small but impressive canyon/creek area known to the locals as Little Yosemite. We visited there a week ago and now that the creek is really low but still running we were able to walk in the riverbed and we came along this awesome tree wrapped around a rock so naturally I snapped a shot with all of you in mind and here you have it. The tree is about 2 feet in diameter here. For those few who might be interested here is a link to the area. Hope you enjoy!!
Half Dome by Flmngseabass
Found this rummaging through some older photos. Took this while at Yosemite National Park with one of my daughters in June 2006. I was standing in mid air to capture this good shot...............NOT!! Okay, I was across the valley at Glacier Point while zooming in on this very famous rock:):) Hope you like. At the top is a small patch of snow still hanging on for dear life:):) Thanks for all your support- always appreciated my friends:):()
