2005 Calendar Now Available

Submitted by caedes 12/09/04 8:50 AM GMT

You can now purchase the 2005 Caedes.net Calendar from DeviantArt Prints for the low low (as low as it can go) price of $11.99. You can purchase the final verison of the calendar here. I'm pretty sure that you still have time to receive it before x-mass. You can view all the high resolution photos on our preview page. Since I chose to not charge more than the base price you have the opportunity to instead apply that money to a Caedes Cadre membership. This way you can get twice as much Caedes Cadre donations as compared to the way we sold the poster.

Oops I accidently ordered a bunch of them yesterday at 20 bucks each. I waited for the revised version of the calendar but I didn't realize the price on that was going to change. I hope all that extra money will at least go to this website. If it doesn't, is there some way for me to get credit for this new price from deviant? If not, hey, I was clearly willing to pay the other price for this great calendar that helps me with my christmas shopping ;)

Not to sound negative or anything but isn't there a spelling error on the back of the calender? Their was spelled "thier". I don't know if you can fix it in time but I just thought I should let you all and Caedes know.

I already fixed a bunch of spelling errors. Each one delayed the calendar by two days due to the need to have it re-evaluated by the print people. I was in a bit of a hurry to get it out in time of x-mass.

Ah well, who looks at the back of a calendar anyway?! ;) It sits against your wall for the whole year once you put it up! :D

heh, too bad they are all photographs. I don't really truely understand the art in pure photographs which is why I wish there was an abstract callender...maybe next year :/

Congrats to all whose photos were included.

I am disappointed though: It seems the photos were timed to the seasons, but I think it is a bit lacking in this attempt. There's nothing wrong with the photos... they're fantastic. It just seems that their sequence could have been changed a bit to better fit the seasonal theme that is present.

I just got mine and all of the titles and author names are punched out by the spiral binding. =/ But other than that it looks very nice. =)

I swear that really annoys me... I told them that they didn't give enough information about the format of the calendar. I didn't enven know that it was going to be spiral bound or I would have allowed for more space. =(

Yeah I got mine today as well. The spiral binding certainly took care of the author names and picture titles, but the calendars look great. My thoughts on the missing names is that what the park rangers who I give the calendar to don't know, can't hurt them. It is not really apparent that there is necessarily supposed to be any text where the binding is unless you already know that. It's a shame that the printer didn't allow more room for that, but at least the authors all receive some credit on the cover. If we decide to do this as a site again next year we'll just have to put it together sooner so we have time to proof a real printed copy before making them available to everyone for holiday purchase.

Yep, I was nervous about not having time to proof a hard copy for that reason. I guess that we are lucky that the photos didn't come out in inverted colors. =p

I got mine this morning and they are looking great! As to the spiral binding and the names - well, all the authors are listed on the front page, so there is not sooo much harm done, and next year we will know better.
Happy Christmas to everybody!

Yeah, it wasn't a fluke, the printer just didn't bind them appropriately. May I suggest that for those who have a picture of their own in the calendar, sign your picture in the bottom corner with a fine tip sharpie or something. That should have as much sentimental value for your giftees as seeing your name in lights ;)

Great idea, Torque, I'll do that sharpie thing. And Caedes, gotta tell you I'm impressed with the quality of the printing. Colors and detail in all the shots came out extremely well. That means you likely spent a bit of time doing some pre-press work on these. Appreciate that effort a lot! Mike

I got my copies of the calendar a few days ago and they look great. I want to thank everyone that submitted images and those folks that were involved with its creation. Good job. I have noticed one problem and that is that the title and artist name is not readable because of the binder holes. If you make one next year, please watch out for this conflict.

Yes, I just got my copy today. Needless to say I have a few 'comments' about the printing that I'll make known to daprints. Other than the binder holes, the photos were not reproduced with the same process that the poster prints are. They still look good, just not as good as they could be. I guess for the price they are still a good deal. This poster would be a good opportunity to get some images suitable for framing if you want to save some money.

I finally got mine today! Shame about the names but I guess at least we know for next year if another one is released ( I like the idea about the sharpie thing but unfortunately I personally have a lousy signiture :-) ) The other good thing is that the names and months are printed on the front so everybody knows who did what anyway. Great publicity for the site and as promised I will be making my donations soon! I really hope this becomes an annual "tradition" here at caedes.net.
