I present to you our February Artist to be spotlighted.
He has been a "Caedesian" since August, 2003. Quite impressive! His username is slybri. He is known to us as Bri. Please visit his gallery and sprinkle it with kind words and congratulations!

slybri:

Firstly I would like to thank the members of Caedes. It was their encouraging comments and support that fired my appetite for photography. I first discovered Caedes while looking to find background pictures to adorn my new PC desktop and boy did I find them. Initially I thought all the photos were taken by seasoned professional photographers the quality was that good. Wanting to comment on some of my favourites I signed up. I spent time looked through my pictures deciding which were worthy of posting there were the occasional lucky shots that stood out, bravely I posted my first picture in 2003, then began my addiction. My first camera was inherited from my father in 1986 when he sadly passed away, this was a 35mm Pentax ME super, I had no success with this and decided photography was not for me. Fast forward to the year 2000 and I bought my first digital camera an Olympus Camedia 1.3 million pixels, my pictures were mainly of my young daughter and wife during the holidays. Across the next few years I upgraded trying to keep up with the Joneses and the pixels but the camera really only came out for special occasions, Xmas, birthdays etc.

2006 I purchased a Canon A630, I recognised the jump in quality straight away, shortly after I upgraded to a Panasonic bridge camera. This felt like a proper camera, while out on walks I would sneak my camera out of my pocket to snap a bird or a flower, I wasn't comfortable doing this when people were around I'm guessing I was a bit of a closet photographer. The big turning point for me was in 2009 when I made the jump and bought my first DSLR a Sony A200, my first shot was by accident when I pressed the shutter and took an unexpected picture of my dog there was a big WOW moment the quality was immediately apparent. I was no longer in the closet and wore my camera proudly around my neck shooting anything and everything.

Currently I own a Nikon D5000, this is my pride and joy until my next upgrade. My favourite shots are landscapes especially sunsets. My quest is to take the perfect shot, I look forward to achieve this not that I'm saying I will but that won't stop me trying. My favourite shots up to now were taken in Northumberland near my caravan I find photography here is very relaxing and almost therapeutic. I recently got hooked on long exposure shots and light painting this has given me my daily fix during the dark winter months I'm sure this will wear off as the nights get lighter. I would like to thank Caedes admin and all its members for the work keeping this wonderful site going, I look forward to posting and viewing your fantastic images in the future.

Bri

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . Congratulations, Bri.

As they say, and most fitting ... well deserved.

Always enjoy your visual offerings, accomplished on the technical fronts and fresh takes/looks as well.

A couple of my favs from your galleries:

"Closer"

"Beamish Tunnel"

Here's to you gracing us with many more fine photos in the coming years. Keep shooting and most appropriately, methinks ... where you (and your mates) are concerned ... happy shooting.

Enjoy your time in the limelight. :o)
