Thanks for dropping in on Covered Bridge. Everyone of these that I have ever seen have a distinct local signature. I've never seen two that were alike, even in the same county.

Also, glad you liked the miniature daffodil. These are only about half the size of the full gown variety so my chin got a little dirty.

How's the star boarder doing?

I don't know what it is but it is colorful all year long. It blooms in late winter with blue-green leaves. After blooming, the leaves turn purple. In the fall they turn deep crimson. I can't call it deciduous because the leaves never fall off. or at least never all at once.

Thanks for the look-see.

If you read Hawthorne's book, you would easily see how Clifford Pyncheon could migrate through the house once you saw the tight hidden passageways. The history of the house is almost as interesting as Hawthorne's portrayal.

Thanks for you opinion on the rework, John. Perhaps I should have left off the text, but I just finished re-reading Walden, and these words just wouldn't leave my mind. I'll post the final edition and delete the original and the rework in a day or two.

The Fruit of the Lemon was shot at 1/4 sec & f/22, ISO 800, just so I could get enough DOF to cover the little lemon and the lead blossom. A smaller f/stop would sharpness resulted in some noticeable sharpness from the refractive effect of the lenses iris. I wasn't willing to accept any more noise bu going to ISO 1600.

Thanks for the lovely comments.

The "Begonia" Rex goes by the common names of Queen Alexandra Begonia, King Begonia, Painted Begonia, Beefsteak Geranium, and Painted Leaf Begonia. This one's flower were 6-8cm across. I've never seen one that large, before. It is about four times the sized of the bronze-leaf begonias in our flower beds. Thanks for you valuable comment, John.

Many thanks, John. The York Minster is the largest Gothic church in Europe. The front of the building is most impressive, however, there was scaffolding in place for restorative work. I had to be content with shooting the west towers.

Yorks narrow streets and the Minster's close proximity to several bus stops whittle down ones options on the west facade.

I'm pretty sure that you will love it. Peace of mind has a value, too. In general, if you find camera at list price, divide by three for the wholesale price. Lenses have a 200-300% markup.

There are some people out there that just get plain greedy. There are also some of the Russian Mafia out there stealing shipments off the docks. It's turned into a pretty sorry world the last two decades. We have raised a couple of amoral generations. Society must now pay the tax for abandoning traditionally tried and true values.

I was testing out my new 430ex strobe to find the best settings to fill in heavy shadows shooting under a cloudless Texas sky.

Synchro-sun is a throwback technique to the days of flash bulbs and guide numbers. The trick is to get a ratio of 2:1 or 3:1 sun-to-shadow. It allows you to put the sun behind the subject so the subject is more at ease and get the depth of the subjects features. Strobes are a little easy to deploy than reflectors.

Hobie 18: Many thanks for the comment. No, I managed to stay dry. And I always keep a towel wrapped around the camera.

I love the splatter rays from Copernicus to Kepler and Tycho. Don't you know that was a fantastic event to behold. I bet that rocked the moon.

Hey there John, I am glad you enjoyed my photo "Portrait of a Barn Owl" I know the eye was a little dark but I thought the overall detail made up for it. Thanks for your honest critique. Have a great day.

Hi John, thanks for commenting on my "Big Blue" photo, very much appreciated as always. Blue Jays are a pest, but very colorful and beautiful I think.
