one of my favorite landscapes of the American "Wild West". . Towering monoliths exist within a vast plateau-and-canyon panorama. You can experience sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive, where you may spy bighorn sheep and soaring eagles. Most tourists go to the well known Parks but this is little out of the way jewel you can explore without any crowds

Petrified trees today lie strewn across clay hills and within cliff faces; each log broken into large segments. The quartz within the petrified wood is hard and brittle, fracturing easily when subjected to stressPetrified wood found in the park and the surrounding region is made up of almost solid quartz. Each piece is like a giant crystal, often sparkling in the sunlight as if covered by glitter. The rainbow of colors is produced by impurities in the quartz, such as iron, carbon, and manganese.
Over 200 million years ago, the logs washed into an ancient river system and were buried quick enough and deep enough by massive amounts of sediment and debris also carried in the water, that oxygen was cut off and decay slowed to a process that would now take centuries

Peace in the Valley
What I like to do is look online at log cabin designs just for fun. Some of them are so beautiful! I would like one about 1500 sq ft on one level with a mountain or lake view nestled among the evergreens but not too many since I would like the cabin to be bright and cheerful in the day time. I don't like dark and deary homes. You are welcome to drop by anytime Richie

I sold the canoe shortly afterwards. It was heavy lifting onto the car roof all the time and figure I can just rent one for a couple of hours if I want to explore a waterway. Thanks for viewing the Rocky River Richie and finding it pretty..it was taken during springtime...

I have seen plenty of sunrise/sunsets in my lifetime but this one truly blew my breath away. I was mesmerized by the colors, hues and how astounding it was. the sky at times looked like molten lava..thanks Richie!

Thanks for enjoying "Mayan Ruin" I am nuts about Cancun with it's white sand beaches and aquamarine color sea of amazing clarity, after two weeks there I was very tan and relaxed.
