The sparsity of life and color hinting through the white landscape creates a variety of contrast and makes some of us really happy we don't have to tromp over that bridge to go home. With a lot of white that's snowblinding, Pistos has also done a great job of adjusting the light levels to include the shading and shadowing that highlight the shape of the snow as it blankets the landscape.
While there won't always have be a runner up mentioned, this one was such a close contender that it was worth highlighting on our first outing of the Image of the Week. This well lit scene is evocative, creating a strong impression of nostalgia and a familiarity of the every day bits of life that create lasting memories of not just objects but a particular person.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
Lyn, I have to doublecheck, but I think they can't be in the new images and the main galleries at the same time, so I would think they go to the main galleries when they've appropriately aged. If they can be in both at once, yes, we'll add them immediately.
