We already have thousands of fine nature pictures, and I love them all. But please vote at something different.
Vote for a theme with imagination, creativity, real challenge, etc: !

Try to keep in mind, when suggesting a topic:

i) Open to all genres of art. Not just photography.

ii) Add a short description (one or two lines is sufficient, methinks) , so 'we' know what the artistic aim/intention of the subject matter is.

iii) Try not to repeat previous topics.

"Balance" gets my vote.

It is an important design principle that can be creatively extrapolated upon and extended to photography and CGI works.

And/or..

Approached conceptually.

It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.

Just a short note here..

@ Oliver; aka gbo911:

If you click on "All Contests", just below that of "Contest Topic Poll" (top or upper left-hand side of this page) ... that will bring to you the page of past contests.

From there, a quick check reveals that 'Bokeh'/'Depth of Field' has already been done.

Topic: Depth of Field

Was a good good topic, perhaps a little too soon to repeat though.

I think DOF is more than bokeh. Bokeh is a smaller category.
I don't like topics like Natures Finest. That can be everything, and where is the challange? (Okay. Humor/Balance can be also good.)

bokeh is interesting but im thinking more as a painting (of course) i second the nature comment, there are so many fine and beautiful pictures of nature but lets go out of the box, and also pick something that people understand or isn't too ambiguous, like balance

I have a humble and simple request.. that I hope will be answered, so as to enlighten us all.

That of..

Whomever suggested "Natures Finest" ... to provide a brief explanation of this possible topic/subject.

It appears to be far too ambiguous and open-ended of a topic to my mind (and somewhat photographic-centric) ... that I foresee the contest gallery being filled with landscapes, bird, animal, flower .. and so forth, imagery.

Maybe I am wrong?

Shameless plug for "Balance"..

Examples of 'balance' ... in art.

/\ Quite varied, and still lots of room for inclusion of differing subject matter.

With ... an emphasis on the challenge, with respect to the incorporation of the aspect of the design principle itself.

Could be thought of ... as a compositional challenge on creative steroids.

Could be thought of ... and as mentioned above ... as a conceptual challenge to capture/encapsulate in your submissions and present to your viewers.

well, being "nature's finest" isn't elucidated as to what the scope is, im going with the contest topic meaning: anything organic, accordingly, the fda believes in not defining this word either so i think we should post anything and everything for this. nature made everything we've created as humans, chemicals, materials, machines, pencils, paint.. the scope is endless to our understanding down this line. where is the creativity, the difficulty, the thought.

Still one day to go !.It seems "Natures finest" is going to win, but we can stop this (Yes we can !) Balance is a very good theme, so I sugest that all creative voters change their vote(s) today, and vote for 'Balance' !

I would like to support a nod more toward Balance as well...

Nature as a subject in various forms has been used many times.

Would love to see a LIMIT to the number of voting choices per contest as well.

If you put that up as a future topic once again, Oliver ... you will get my vote.

It was a good good contest. Saw some great creativity in the submissions.

And..

It pushed some, I believe ... to push themselves to try some new stuff.

Can't ask for more than that?

And ... let's underscore the fact that is much better to add the 'sizzle' (brief explanation of topic) to the 'steak' (actual topic).

As I don't mean to come off as being critical of some of the subjects that have been suggested.

Simply put, 'we' are left scratching our collective creative heads (in some instances) if left unexplained.

Gotta sell it to 'us'.

I am sorry, but I don't understand this concept. I thought it meant 'balance' in art composition, not literal balancing acts. Am I confused?

'Could be thought of ... as a compositional challenge on creative steroids.'

"Balance refers to the distribution of visual weight in a work of art."

Could be thought of ... and as mentioned above ... as a conceptual challenge to capture/encapsulate in your submissions and present to your viewers.

'I thought it meant 'balance' in art composition, not literal balancing acts.'
_______________________________________________________________

No, not confused. What you may or are seeing is the interpretation of the topic.

In some instances, literal, by the participating artist(s). Which is fine.

It will be up to the voters to decide who and how to award the participants for their efforts.

Most creative interpretation.. or ... otherwise.

Take a look at past contests.

For example, the quotes attributed to past winners;

"These images really reflected my interpretation of the topic and also showed a good deal of creativity and thought."
