I am always amazed at the stories that lie within the confines of a cemetery. There are many there if you take the time to look. These shots are from a dark time in our Nation's history. Hard to believe we could do this to our fellow man. You can read all about it here.

This is for the contest. Confederate Flag courtesy of deviantart

If there were no wars...could we live in peace all that time!

I like what you did here with the layers and texture!

Very thought provoking!

Good luck in the contest

This meaningful image also stirred my little grey cells... Recalled all the stories about Civil War.
Great layering here, but I guess the cells stirring was not enough as I am repeating someone before me ... LOL
Good luck, dearest SOT.

A nice presentation and history chiseled on stone. One cannot change the past Tick but one can take a lesson from it.

A deep and telling image Tick which deserves its place in the competition. By their very nature civil wars appear more cruel and devastating than "normal wars". The awful stories of The American Civil War can be matched with similar tales from The English Civil War (1642 - 1651). Coincidentally there are many connections between The Confederacy and Merseyside. During the war there was a Confederacy embassy in Liverpool and the shipbuilders John Lairds in Birkenhead built the notorious ship The Alabama for The Confederate navy.
