I was on my way home from enjoying Thanksgiving Dinner with my 95 years young mother at the Nursing Home when I saw an eagle enjoying a meal on a deer carcass. It was next to the highway and I was going 65mph. Needless to say I couldn't react quite that fast. I turned around and when I returned it had flown and was perched in this tree. I waited for a long time for it to return, but it never did. In an attempt to salvage something from the sighting, I used the red shed and the dark web like trees to show off the eagle. I took some shots where I zoomed in, but it was still too far away to get much detail. Hence this composition.

"The first Thanksgiving - at least, the one involving the Pilgrims - is believed to have occurred over a period of three days, sometime between Sept. 21 and Nov. 9 in 1621. The feast occurred on a Pilgrim plantation at the Plymouth colony in Massachusetts, and was attended by 53 Pilgrims and 90 Wampanoag Indians."

I think you did a really nice job with this capture, Tick. It warmed my heart to read your narrative concerning your dinner with you mother. She is bless to have you as her son; as you are to have her in your life too.

If the eagle had known you better, he may have been more sociable.

A lovely capture, and touching narrative ... the red shed and the trees work well together in this scene.

The white feathers are enough to draw one's eyes in that direction. Nice presentation Tick and a good narrative to go with it. 95 Years old! So nice of you to share Thanksgiving with your old mother.

No matter how many times one sees an eagle, it is exciting.
