Little Red Mountain is another that had been denuded by placer mining. That has all ended now but the scars will remain forever. It actually allows for a rather nice image though.
Magnficiant outlook but sad about its history. Sure can tell how awesome these must be by the 'little' house down in the valley. Great post and thanks for sharing this one Chuck.

Makes for a VERY nice image Chuck even with the scars ... maybe even because of the scars. The bald mountainside does add a lot of contrast here. Was the mining done in the quest for gold?
Leave it to man....I would think they could have replanted trees on the mountain ????
At any rate, yes, you got a good capture of it and it does add color and contrast. Well done. Is denuded a real word? Hum.............

You're right - it sure did make for a great photo, Chuck - you covered all the technical bases here. I've got my eye on that single house down there - talk about feeling small by comparison! Well done and very powerful image! - Patty
Hi there...here in ORegon we have "strip mining" they cut those gorgeous old trees, and haul them with huge trucks to be made into boards etc and shipped by train to who knows where..of course we do need wood to build And at least in Oregon usually they plant new trees. So that help some. But its ugly when it looks like this. But you know, this is still a very beautiful. I like how the soil and rock looks that was under the trees. Nice colours, they sure lighten the area up too...thank you so much for posting this..Verena
Picture Purrrfect .
A purrrfect world is what we all want, but, seems too unobtainable. If I've viewed and commented on your post, and you liked my remarks then NO THANKS is needed...just getting to see your wonderful work is thanks enough for me!!
Also BIG thanks to all who check out my work!! I appreciate any and all comments & feedback!!
Amazing depth and clarity and wonderful colors. I love the contrast from the mineral deposits and the green mountain sides. Excellent post, thanks for sharing this one.
By including the house in this photo Chuck it really gives me an idea of just how large these mountains are. Also how much of the land was actually stripped here never to return to its original state. Your capture of this is second to none- Very beautiful indeed.
