Yesterday was the first time attending the yearly Rock and Gem Show without my late husband. (He passed away last Nov. We met as young Geology students years ago. We'd go on fossil hunts for our dates.) Anyway, he would have loved this fish in a pan, especially the price!

Fossilized Flounder? $100.00 is a little steep for my wallet, Connie. So sorry for your loss, though it is nice to remember your late husband with the hobby you both shared.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Connie. Hope you're keeping busy.
Have you ever been to Rock Hound state park? It's just South of Deming, New Mexico, and you're allowed to go in and dig without any charges.
Nice work with good detail on your pan fish.

Connie, I am sorry for your loss. November was just here, it seems. My wife and I actually visited metro parks and that activity lasted our whole time together.

Any idea how old this fish is? He is in far better shape than me (except for being in a skillet)! lol.

From Wikipedia:
The Green River Formation is an Eocene geologic formation that records the sedimentation in a group of intermountain lakes in three basins along the present-day Green River in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. The various fossil beds of the Green River Formation span a 5 million year period, dating to between 53.5 and 48.5 million years old. This span of time includes the transition between the moist early Eocene climate and the slightly drier mid-Eocene.

Now Connie, this is second time that I learn from you - the first time being the new word "verdant" and now this inspiration regarding geology or in my case this will be rather palaeontology which used to be my passion when I was at high school. Still this is the thing about "digging for free" according to our sweet Doug!:)
Thanks, dear friend.

I ordered the bacon and eggs, so don't go expecting a tip. I'm told I have rocks in my head, does that count as a fossil?
An interesting find and capture, Connie. Nice details in the pan-fried fossil.
