This photo was taken at the yearly Rock and Gem show. There were many displays of stones and gems. This photo shows rock samples, but there were also gems available elsewhere.

If you wanted to, you could pick a gem to have set in a piece of jewelry. There were tables of jewelry makers at the rear of the hall. It's interesting watching them work.

My Goodness, Connie, this is my real passion as collecting goes... after movies and books:) I have home half a big glass jar of treasures I posted here at some time too. Tiger eye, chalcedony, crystal, opal, agate, jade and other semi precious gems are my dearest beloved treasures. Thanks so much. This is a keeper forever.

What a fine display of colourful and smooth looking rocks! The gems must look even better I suppose. Super shot with good clarity.

A superbly clear and sharp photo Connie. Can even see the names clearly. If I had to pick I would choose the green calcite from Mexico - it looks like green ice.
They are all beautiful though

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Excellent subject - have you thought about tinkering with it, using different processes to see if you can make it into something abstract? You might be surprised what you find, and not just in those little boxes.

This is my big love - the stones! I collect the most ordinary that I've found in some river, on the beach or a mountain up to those which I could afford to buy. I cannot get satiate of the beauty of the stones!
