Today while in Canyon,Ca, I came across this old oak tree that had fallen due to age. They tried to cut it up but it was so full of nails/metal that their chain saw chains kept breaking.I suppose in time they'll finish it but for now I thought it was very unusual looking and "gnarly". It's about 10' long. Thanks for looking:):)

I plan to help my ^not-so-tools-hands-on^ neighbors turn a remaining tree trunk in their backyard into a treehouse-play fort for their two kiddlywinks, and when chainsawing it level I have to watch out for a steel cable embedded in the tree many years ago. I just finished demolishing a play structure in my own backyard, full of bolts and nails, and dulled several chains in the process. There must have been a helluva lot of metal in this monster to actually break the chains. Wow. I do love the gnarl in the wood, though. The character and story behind this shot clearly supports some photos here as photojournalism, one of the main utilities of photography in the real world.
