I came across this well known area awhile ago and thought I would share it with you...yes, you:):) Thanks for your comments:) "In American architecture, painted ladies are Victorian and Edwardian houses and buildings repainted, starting in the 1960s, in three or more colors that embellish or enhance their architectural details. The term was first used for San Francisco Victorian houses by writers Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen in their 1978 book Painted Ladies: San Francisco's Resplendent Victorians.[1] Although polychrome decoration was common in the Victorian era, the colors used on these houses are not based on historical precedent." Source: Wikipedia ( Painted ladies )
New to me however is that some Victorian houses in San Francisco are female too, 😁 .
By checking-out your link I've learned that these houses are called 'painted ladies' and that this name was given in other American cities to colorfully repainted Victorian houses as well. One is never too old to learn
Thanks for both the lesson and the wonderful picture of the SF painted ladies, Buddy!
