Just me trying out my new cam.
This should was taken somewhere in Moulins, France. If someone has a better idea for a title... you're welcome to share it.
All C/C are welcome.
Wow! What a shot. Very striking, It almost looks like two photos with the beautiful foreground lit well by the flash of the camera and the ominous looking background. Well done Gabrielle.
It's a cool shot Gabi! Two suggestions: looks like you used the flash; the flowers are somewhat "washed out" with light (i.e. overexposed) while the background shows the real light condition of the time. I'd have used the "soft flash" function (if your camera has one) or, even better, not use any flash at all.....which brings us to the second suggestion: always use a tripod, at least for this type of light. It makes a tremendous difference. Or else, place the camera on top of a bench or something and then use the "timer" function. The idea is to have the camera rock stable and absolutely motionless at the time the shutter releases. Re the title, I think you've picked a great one already!
Good post Gabi and I learned some things myself from Bram's comments. That is why I love this site. A great place to learn. Your title is good. Flashpoint comes to mind. Thanks for sharing.
A wonderful palette of colours and a great composition make this to a a very good post Gabrielle. Read the good advice of Bram. I agree with him and I can give you even some more advice like 'use an diffusion dome, a speedlight gel filter and an indirect flash mode (with a somewhat tilted flash head)', but think it doesn't make that much sense as it fully depends on the equipment you have. Suppose (based on your former work) that you've achieved the best possible result with your equipment. Thanks for this very fine post!
Regards Cornelius.
Neat idea on the take!! I like the church in the backdrop, not so much the other building. A wee harsh on the flash creates some hott spots. Again, super thought!!
I suspect you've used a flash, or some other artificial lighting here.
It's a real explosion of colour, & those dark twin spires at the back right add a real Walt Disney affect. :o) Rokh may have a point, but don't lose sleep over it we all live, & learn.
Well done Gabrielle .. don't ya just love photography. :o)
