I had posted a shot from the abstract I have of my old home a long time ago. I ran across this capture I took some time ago that is really interesting to me if not others. The abstract doesn't just go through all the previous owners of the property, it goes back to the United States owning the track of land from the 1700's. Cliff notes on who's who. Henry Conner was one of the original owners of land which comprised most of the east side of Detroit. There is a Conner Avenue and Conner Creek still exists but has been paved over and diverted. It primarily runs underground. I found extensive historical information but tried to truncate and include the most relevant aspects such as this portion. "It was following the marriage of Henry Connor and Theresa Trombley that the former took up his abode at Detroit, her father turning over to him all of his land upon the agreement that Mr. Connor was to maintain a home for Mr. and Mrs. Trombley throughout their remaining days. The place was situated along the creek that has since been called Connor's Creek. Conner's creek was originally called Riviere du Grand Marais. The property was acquired by the Tromblay family. The creek and property was called Tromblay via biae St Paul, Quebec." Detroit during this time was farms and scattered settlements. In the next 20-30 years many of the quaint farms and villages would slowly be turned into major thoroughfares and factories as Detroit would become the largest industrial city the world had ever known.

Alex, by only reading the newly announced title in my friends-list, I really thought that you would provide us with a biblical story, 😜 ! When I saw your post, I realized that I was wrong. I wasn't disappointed however, because it's a very interesting 'story' (even for 'foreigners' like me). To know how these things were done in the past, was to a certain extend, an eye opener for me. Because of your roots, it must have been even more interesting for you.

Legal descriptions are very interesting and sometimes difficult to read Alex.
Excellent post showing us it is always about the land. Wars have been fought and continue to be fought over the possession of the land.
Thanks for this piece of history.
