"Called 'The Agenoria' – after the god of industry – when this ran on 2nd June 1829 it was the first locomotive to work in the Midlands or south of England. Today, it is the oldest complete locomotive in the National Railway Museum in York"

This engine is the twin of the Stourbridge Lion, a renowned locomotive for being the first to operate commercially in America.

The counterweight on the wheel attests to the engines' manufacture at the Foster & Rastrick Foundary in Stourbridge.

As you can tell, I'm rather fond of this old lump of iron.

Wonderful information and a great closeup John. I can see that you like building up a little steam on this lump of iron as you say. It is a worthy subject.
