It's great when the snow goes - I can get down into the ravine with the dog and meet our friends again.

Right on cue, almost as if placed by Walt himself was this lovely Barred Owl.

Usual issues with early evening light in the treed undergrowth, using a 300mm lens with an f stop of f5.6. One of these days I'll get my f1.4 lens close enough to get a clearer shot. Then again, I'd probably have to hand raise an owl chick from birth to get that close.

It must have been a thrill to see this through the viewfinder, John. It is a thrill to see it on the screen. Magnificent capture.

Best of luck getting close enough to use the other lens. A good capture of this beautiful owl. Good details and colours, very nicely presented.

Great capture with your long lens, John. Even with 300mm, you must have been so close to this interesting birds. Great composition and lighting.
