This is the birthplace of Thomas A. Edison, the inventor of the electric lightbulb, the phonograph...and other things. The house is in Milan, Ohio, about 30 miles from where I live.
I am assuming that he had electric lighting inside. A quaint little place and probably kept to look as it was in his day. Wonderfully clear and detailed post, Jim.
Beautiful house. But I'm afraid he didn't invent the light bulb.Only improved on it In fact another American Charles Francis Brush manufactured some carbon arcs to light a public square in Cleveland, Ohio.some two years before Edison got involved..The first electric light was invented by Humphry Davy, an English scientist in would you believe it 1800..Sir Joseph Wilson Swan In 1878,demonstrated his new electric lamps in Newcastle upon tyne, England.0ne year before Edison..This picture is a cracker...R.
Beautiful posting, Jim. Great colors, wonderful clarity and focus and a perfectly balanced composition (how come you took the shot straight on when everyone tells me that you're supposed to take the shot for 45°?). I'm amazed at how small homes were back then. I think my living room is bigger than this whole house. One weird thing caught my eye (my left eye - my right eye thinks everything looks fine). The top of the roof seems to curve up slightly on the left. 6.785 out of 10.
I always liked that story about how it took him 6000 variations to find a way to make the light bulb work. He said something to the effect that he'd found 6000 ways not to make a light bulb.
Jim He was just near as smarter than I was! Such a small place for such a big personality and mind. But everybody has their own start no matter how big or small. Great image very sharp and detailed
Edison was such a unique person - truly one of the greats to come from Ohio. Lovely cottage JimBob - it is good a little of history is displayed for future generations.

hello Jim....This is a very good closeup showing plenty of detail and colour in this quaint little house....Well done...All the very best to you Jim....................Mick.
Nice to see such a well preserved house. From a humble start to a huge achievements in the field of science, Thomas A. Edison was certainly a genius of high cadre. Great shot Jim, perfect.
