I really like the tones in this great capture of this amazing bridge. I'm originally from Minnesota and have crossed this bridge several times. Nice work.
This has to be one of the coolest views of a bridge that I've seen, most others at a safe oblique and not head-on like this one. It shows the construction method in it's best light. You're obviously in the middle of the intersection and the light is green, so the traffic is moving. I know from experience that this is not any easy take, having to set up and shoot quick before you're stuck in between cars or the law raises an eyebrow at your efforts. The only Duluth bridge I remember crossing is the long and large Bong Memorial across St. Louis Bay. Which one is this?

Okay, now I get it. The Aerial Bridge is the name and I found it on South Lake. The satellite photo shows the steel superstructure very well. Reading up on the bridge I see that it is similar in operation to the only lift bridge in North Dakota, the biggest differences being ours was a roadbed and rail bridge and yours is still in operation. Ours, 3.3 miles from the Montana border (east of Fairview, MT), has been out of service a long time, and was only used once.
Thanks for submitting this very interesting piece of architecture and excellent photo.
