There's been a new " Shoe Tree " started at Murray State University , next to the original one . I like how these boots are nailed on with horse shoe nails. From the date on the boots looks as if Trent & Kaitlin are getting married next month. I had previously posted the original tree and here once again is the information on the Tradition of the shoe trees at Murray State University , Murray, KY. The Shoe Tree is one of the oldest traditions at Murray State University , Murray KY. Legend has it couples who met at Murray State and marry return and each nails a shoe to the tree. Some write their wedding dates on the shoes. Many return and attach baby shoes when they start their families. The Tradition lives on at Murray State.

Time to give up those boots anyway. They sure are well worn. That is quite an interesting tradition and I'm glad that it got so big that they needed a new tree. Symbolic I suppose of the tree of life and how families branch and continue. I do remember the first tree and now I'm going to go back and look for it. Found it

A big difference in size too...I would'nt like a boot up the a**e with that large one...

My wife collects old boots and plants flowers in them..they really grow and bloom too!..

Nicely spotted for this...Looks a great tradition!...

A nice tradition. I do wonder what it's like, walking around with just one boot.

Interesting story about these traditions Marsha, accompanied by a very appropriate image. If there was such a tradition in my country, think the shoes (as we don't wear usually boots) of my wife and me would have gone for an already long time as we are married for more than 44 years now.

Thanks for this fine and informative post.

Regards, Cornelius.

Hey Jenn, you did your homework on these boots! It's got a cool look, too. Perhaps you should look up Trent and Kaitlyn and sell them a print of this...at a hefty profit!
