Early evening sun and shadows on the Remarkables. This was taken with zoom and was the view from the house I stayed in recently.Just sitting on the balcony - good company, a cool drink and my camera - bliss! The mountains look their most beautiful when snow-covered but still have a majesty at this time of the year. "The Remarkables are a mountain range and skifield in Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand. Located on the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu, the range lives up to its name by rising sharply to create an impressive backdrop for the waters. High points in the range include Double Cone (2340 metres) and Ben Nevis (2330 metres). The mountains were allegedly named The Remarkables because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south.

It must be nice to watch that strip of sunlight going up and up and vanish over the mountain. Lovely scene well captured, Lyn.

Remarkable indeed. A magnificent range, strikingly depicted. Great work, Lyn (especially doing it from a balcony with drink in hand!).
