I am snowed under with other things needing my time just now and I am sorry have not had time to make many comments. . . . This is one of my early efforts with my old Kodak LS420, and I have tried to give it a slight painted look - to disguise the low quality, but I am not sure if I have succeeded. The mountain in the centre is Aoraki/Mount Cook which at 3764 metres, is the highest of New Zealands's 27 mountains over 3000 metres. It was 10m (33 ft) higher until approximately 10 million cubic metres of rock and ice fell off the northern peak in 1991. . . . . . Aoraki means "Cloud Piercer" in the Kai Tahu dialect of the Maori language, and this is why I like this image as it does seem Aoraki is piercing the clouds. Opinions welcome :)

You have definitely succeeded, LynEve! This is a beauty, and it does have a cold, chilling feel to it. Hope you get out from under the snow soon!

It amazes me, based on your comments, what you can pull out of an 'old' shot. Looks like you did a really fine job on this one, Eve. The scene is wonderful to look at.

You accomplished your feat Lyn. It is beautiful and it does appear to be piercing the sky. You framing added a lot. Photo looks nice and clear. I like the dark tones.

You did a wonderful job Lyn by giving this image the look of a painting. The well chosen frame gives the finishing touch to this great post.
Regards, Cornelius.

Mt. Cook would be a treasure in any country. I particularly remember large patches of lupines in bloom when we visited the park many years ago.
Very well done presentation, Eve. And the framing is understated but excellent as well. I would like to know which techniques you used to give it the "painted look".

You have captured the sharp and harsh features of the mountains very well. Very good shot, Lyn.

Nice metaphor Lyn. I know what you mean. My comments list is hitting more than 30 a day at times now and I'm going to have to find a radical solution - so I sympathise! Just make sure you've got time to keep posting outstanding shots like this one.
