Laughing Kookaburras are best known for their call, which is like loud, echoing human laughter. Kookaburras are carnivorous and will eat lizards, snakes, insects, mice and raw meat. The Australian aborigines have a legend about the Kookaburra. When the sun rose for the first time, the god Bayame ordered the kookaburra to utter its loud laughter in order to wake up mankind so that they should not miss the wonderful sunrise. . . . . . . Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree~ Merry, merry king of the bush is he~ Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!~ Gay your life must be. - Australian children's song. . . . . Taken during my recent holiday, in the Dandenong Forest Reserve, Victoria, Australia with Panasonic DMC-FZ7. Thanks you for viewing, comments most welcome :)

Wonderfully captured Lyn. Very sharp and clear on the feathers and I love the light and shadows.

Great image Lyn. The focus and detail are fantastic. I would have cropped it a bit to show more of the bird, but it's a personal choice.

Great shot and the focus is impeccable. I can almost hear the bird and children laughing in your narrative. Just a great post Lyn. I see you are back with the Panosonic.
