Taken 30th December 2013. I stood there like a statue clicking my camera in an effort to capture some lightning but did not manage it.
Thunder was booming and the first giant drops of rain fell as I took this so it was a quick retreat to avoid a soaking. Canon 450D

This is certainly a massive set of dark storm clouds Lyn. They are so low to the ground you can practically jump up and touch them (not advisable). Bravo.

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.
When I see this very threatening sky Lyn, I think that retreating was the best solution in order to prevent to get soaked, as an umbrella (dangerous in such conditions as well) wouldn't have been helpful.

I don't think you would have snapped the lightning anyhow!...It woulda scared the pants off you and you would miss the click!

That is one threatening sky, LE. I have never been able to capture lightning in a camera. Nor a bottle either.

This is a scene that we've been very familiar with recently but I'd not been able to capture it nearly as well as you have here Lyn. That sky is magnificent, so dark and brooding.

Well done Lyn - all the menace of the storm comes through but once you hear thunder you should hightail it indoors 'cause the lightening there too even if you can't see it yet.
