The Spanish Steps, Rome. The 138 steps were completed in 1725. Architect Francesco de Sanctis.
They link the the Trinit dei Monti church with the Spanish Square below.
You can sit, you can take photos, you can buy roses but it is forbidden to eat on the Spanish Steps :)
I have been sorting through old photos, this is one, edited with Corel PSP.Kodak V550 at 9.34am.

A great shot and great facts Lyn. Here in America, restaurants are named for the Spanish Steps. An odd idea since one cannot eat at the real ones.

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.

This would be reasonable if the prohibition regarded icecream like it is on the buses... But how could anyone mind bread crumbs I wonder?

The view is somehow familiar to me...
Spanish Steps, weren't they seen in Plein Soleil [In Full Sun or so] early film with extremely young [some 20 years of age] Alain Delon and Marie Laforet and of course great Maurice Ronet? Or maybe in the other, later version of the same story [Talented Mr Ripley] with Matt Damon & Gwyneth Paltrow?
Enough questions maybe?:)

Wow so many people! this surely is a popular location, it's a shame however no eating is allowed. A good photo which allows me to clearly see the crowds, well done Lyn.
