Taken just minutes ago (midnight) with Panasonic FZ28 hand held. It is quite an impressive sight in reality. Just wish I had the expertise to set up my Canon camera properly with the tripod and with the proper settings. I was surprized at just how red the moon looked.
I read that New Zealand is one of the best places to view this total lunar eclipse so I guess there will be many photographers out tonight :)

You're right Lyn, for taking an optimal image in such difficult lighting conditions, the use of a camera mounted on a tripod and a RCD (Remote Control Device) are desirable. I love however the moody and impressive scene. Thanks for that!

Very unusual colour of the moon Lyn. Well captured especially handheld. I must look up why the moon gets this colour sometimes.

I think this turned really well especially when you were not using the big gun. We can see clearly that unique color. I went out to look, but with being in a housing addition, I did not see it. =^..^=tigs♥

Thanks for sharing this Blood Moon with us, LE. I like how you paired the text colors to the moon. Fantastico!

We had a "blood moon," earlier this year LE.
They are something to see. I think you did a good job of capturing the moment.

Very nicely captured, Lyn. I didn't wake up in time to see the Blood Moon (3 am was the best time in my area to view it & we had totally clear skies). But did see it at about 6 am though the color was already fading. Moments later I did see the total effect of the lunar eclipse as the sun, moon, & earth shifted some at early sunrise. Amazing to view. Thank you for sharing this one.

Wow Lyn, this is beautiful. We couldn't see it because of all the rain and clouds we've been getting
