I believe this is a cactus or semi-cactus type. I didn't catch her name :)
Dahlias are the native flower of Mexico and were originally called Acoctli.
The name Dahlia was after a Swedish 18th-century botanist Anders Dahl.
At that time they were valued as a vegetable but interest switched from the tubers to the flowers after the first double blooms were bred in 1815.
Thank you for viewing and for any comments :)

Another one with a beautiful colour and details. Also thanks for the info Lyn. I never knew that although I have taken countless photos of dahlias.

So very beautiful Lyn and a very interesting narrative - I did not know this about dahlias and I've been to several dahlia shows.

The bokeh smoothly blends into the dark background, giving this image a dreamy appearance. Perfectly done, Lyn! Great one, my friend!
