NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS COPYRIGHTED AND NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE.Remember this farm implement? This is how hay used to be mowed. A horse would pull this through the field with the blade lowered and the grasses would be cut. Very slow going but it got the job done.

It sure beat a weed scythe Owd Momma. I suspect those who used this thanked the inventor for making their job easier and quicker. Funny how things change. I really like the how it is waiting for the horse to return. I won't tell it if you don't.

It's always so interesting to see these old tools that were used and are still around somewhere. I like the colouring of this photo, so soft, and sunny. And the old gnarly tree by that implement makes it look even older. Nicely done Pat. Verena

When you think how the technique has progressed in almost all fields of life just in the last say, 50 years isn't it amazing? Will it continue at this rate? How will our world look in 300 years? Interesting shot, Momma, which brings all these thoughts to my mind.

Thanks for this beautiful and nostalgic image Momma. Although the work on the fields was tough in the past, it had a certain charm. When one see the nowadays egines, the work is done more effective and cheaper, but, to me, the charm is gone as well.
Regards, Cornelius.

A beautiful rustic shot. It's greatly enhanced by that bit of tree hanging down to carry through the rusty feeling.

Hello Pat....This is fine picture of the old hay cutter...Way back in the fifties I can remember my father using one of these and I can also remember him sharpening the blade before a cut...He actually had his one converted from horse pulling to tractor pulling...Well done....All the best to you Pat...................................................Mick.
