NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE. Lacassine Wildlife Refuge, Louisiana. This barren tree sits along side the main road as it winds it's way through the refuge and nine times out of ten I can count on a cormorant being perched in the branches. I shot this from my car window using a bean bag to steady the lens. This needs to be viewed full screen. Canon 7D with Canon 100-400mm.

Great title for Colonel Klink, Owd Momma. I like the dead tree as his perch. Buzzards use them here. Shot is well composed.

Nice shot Pat. I like the blue eye of the cormorant and that pose. Good DOF with the sky as background.

When does the 5D Mark II go to the hock shop, asks Richie? Well, let me tell ya somethin, if this 7D continues to focus as well as it does, the 5D II will go to hock shop real quick, because I know what is going to come next...a Canon 5D Mark III or IV with a swivel LCD and the 7D focusing system. What a camera that will be.

A great shot with your new gear. I am still learning the 7D, it's been to rainy to get any photos though. Thanks for the link for the 7D tutorial videos, very helpful.

And you've done a great job of capturing his regal countenance as he calmly surveys his domain, apparently oblivious to the bird paparazzi below.

A wonderful shot, Pat! I love the combination of colors and the steely blue eye of the cormorant. Fine camera work and composition. Well done!
