The bows in the tail represent a lot of work. The only purpose they serve as far as I know is for decoration. It is the same with the braided manes which we will feature later. Does anybody watch the TV show called "Gentle Giants" on RFD network? Its on every Sunday afternoon and features 6 horse hitch draft horse competition. Their tails and manes are decorated the exact same way. Draft horses have shorter tails than regular horses. I sure would like to watch how they do this but I did not get that privilege.
Momma, although it can't be seen very well, this image will show you that this habit is used in my area as well.
Think however that the horse don't realize that it's dressed up. Lucky for it, otherwise it dares not to go to the toilet, lol.
