We have looked at bows for his fanny, flowers for his mane and now feathers for his feet. That's what they called the long hair that grows down the leg and over the hoof which is a trademark of the Clydesdale draft horse. These feathers have to be washed with soap and water and are a chore to be kept clean for parades. Also, a word about horseshoes-Clydesdale horseshoes measure more than 20 inches from end to end and weigh about 5 pounds each which is more than twice as long and five times as heavy as the shoe worn by a light horse. I should have snapped a photo of the bottom of a Clydesdale hoof when they had a leg up in the air because it is an awesome sight to see the humongous size of a Clydesdale horseshoe. You don't want one of them tramping on your feet.

That's where they hide their Budweiser, Owd Momma.
Another good one chocked full of horses and information.

I can't imagine throwing a 5lb. horseshoe in a game of Horseshoes! I might get it 5 feet or so, but I would be worn out after the first few throws! Those feathers make me think of spats worn by a lot of marching bands. They sure do look fancy and clean! Beautiful capture, and very informative, as usual, Pat.

It is nice to see how these hairs around the hoofs move when the horses are dragging the wagon. Another good photo with interesting info.

The more your series continues, the more I'm amazed Momma by all the, by you well documented, facts.

Great and very interesting series Pat!

This has been a very interesting narrative series. This city girl has learned a lot! A lot of work goes into grooming these gigantic horses! Great one!

You are doing a great job on this series my friend, I hope there is more. I got knocked in the forehead by my daughters horse one time and put me down on the ground, and did I have a shiner, I can't imagine that with one of those hoofs. tigs=^..^=
