Here is another scene from my recent canoe trip down the Niobrara River. The region is known as the sand hills for good reason. The cliff faces you see are all composed of compacted sand -- beautiful to look at, but not scalable.

Boy, you weren't kidding abut the Niobrara. I'd love to get my kayaks in here... particularly since we're looking at a possible 4" to 6"of snow tonight and tomorrow, here in North Dakota. Very nice photo. -Nik
