After 25 years of living in Nebraska, I finally got to the other side of the state to see this icon. It was a guidepost for settlers on the Oregon Trail. After coming home, I found out that the people who own the land here are cousins of one of the members at my congregation.

This is a great image. Very well presented, Jeff. It's a small world isn't it in regards to your congregation member.

Aptly named and I have heard it referred to in movies Jeff.
Yes, it is a small world and getting smaller.
Wonderful foto.

Jeff, by watching your very good photograph I became curious for more details of this phenomenon. So I searched the net and have found THIS.
Very interesting, valid for both your photograph and the story behind it.

One of the iconic scenes of the route westward. How ironic that the site is owned by a relative of a parishioner.

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.
