Back in November, my son really wanted a chance to take a picture of a bald eagle. I knew where some "hung out." Well, just as it was getting dark, I spotted one on a stump in the water with the last sun lighting him up. I pointed him out to my son, and the eagle immediately took off. We tracked him to this tree, so we did have some pictures. But you'll have to take my word for it, the first spotting was the best image ... just engraved in my mind instead of on film.

We just don't live in an area where eagles give you close-ups. You were fortunate to get this one. Good work, Jeff.

Jeff, off course I take your words for granted.
But sometimes we have to accept that there might have been a better result. In my country we have a saying that 'weakens' the disappointment for such a missed opportunity: "It's better to have one bird in the hand than ten in the air." (literal translation).
Great capture however!
