A member of the nightshade family, this plant is poisonous. Unfortunately, it is also a noxious weed that spreads readily.

As has become the norm, Jeff, outstanding focus, and a good example for novices to position the camera as parallel to a wide group of subjects as possible, getting most or all, as in this case, in good focus. That is definitely a cool looking plant, poisonous notwithstanding. I would guess that, like kudzu, it is found mostly in the south, our sub-zero months up here near Canada not allowing warm-climate plants to thrive, and that would explain why I have never seen it before. Thanks for the interesting botany tour, Jeff, in this and the number of other plant and flower captures you share with us.

It is a good thing that you have a knowledge of this plant, Jeff. It may be pretty but just look and do not touch.
