Tearing out an old sandbox, late morning yesterday, I unearthed a large ant nest full of white larvae. Came out after lunch and spooked a flock of about 30 of these little guys, having a lunch of their own. I have been providing houses and food for these guys for a number of years and, since sparrows stake out a territory and stick there all year round, I get a chance to watch their interactions, once watching a group of about twenty chase and take down a hawk. My son calls them ^Dads Gang^. I think sparrows are underrated.

That is so rare for one to just stand it's ground. I found Nik's comment most interesting especially about the hawk. Wtg on getting this one of the sparrow. tigs=^..^=
Sparrows are so plentiful and really frequently gather in areas where there is lots of people. People often feed them. I see them all the time at fast food places parking lots. Good capture, Jeff!
