My town opened up two new parks, so I went to see them last week. Fall is just starting to tint the trees, though the weather forecast is for a major storm tomorrow, so it may not last long. This is one end of Big Elk Lake - a pretentious name since it is too close to the city for elks and the lake is actually one of the smaller ones in the region.

Lakes of any size contain their own specific and unique ecosystems, suitable for photography and limited-impact human visitation. I am glad that you are introducing this outlying area of southern Omaha to us, Jeff, an important part of citizen conservation. With family in Lincoln and further south on the Gulf Coast, and a deep appreciation of the HDZ, I have been through your area a number of times. I will need to consider looking closer on my next visit.
