An incredibly peaceful spot, of cascading water, considering the 51,000 casualties that occurred less than 15 miles away. Some of Lee*s forces would have passed by these falls a few days before the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863), arriving near here from the west (Chambersburg) and the south (Sharpsboro), possibly on both up and downstream sides, and some could have likely paused here to gather water and find a little peace for the soul before putting their lives on the field.
