Jeff, it says you live in Nebraska where I believe it is still pretty cool. I think I read in "Orchid Quarterly" that orchids are banned in Nebraska. Great shot of these illegal beauties.
If orchids are banded, I haven't heard of it. They are sold all over, but they have to be indoor plants (it gets too cold here). However, there is a prairie fringed orchid that grows around here. They are rare and not that showy.
Yeah, I'm not sure why something this beautiful and unique would be banned. I did take a look at the Nebraska invasive species program and wild orchids appear to be one that is endangered by invasive species like the Yellow Starthistle (Centaurea solstitialis). Perhaps Roger simply misinterpreted the information?
