Iceberg grounded on a frozen shoreline? Maybe this is a variation of an ice spike, about 4cm high, growing upward in a water filled shallow depression on a tarp. There is nothing above it that could drip on it.
While in my chemistry class in college (a class I actually enjoyed~~the teacher makes all the difference) I collaborated with the teacher to bring my fine art major to this other discipline by illustrating the molecular structure of ice. It is amazing how close it resembles the wee berg in your photo, Wayne. I would love to see a super macro of just the ice with those physical air striations inside. Crop way in to eliminate the outside edges, I can just image what sort of entry it would make whenever we conduct one of our occasional *What Is It?* photo contests. Then again, your focus is generally so tack-sharp, all I need do is download and zoom in. A true keeper of an image; the subtlety and elegance of design in nature.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
