Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The afternoon lighting was a bit harsh and I wasn't sure what treatment to use for this. Any ideas? All commnets and suggestions always welcome.

I would love it but my eyes can't seem to see it right! A bit hard on the focus for me. And I have no idea for treatment for this creation of yours...I don't know anything about all these great programs, wish I did tho!! I do like the colours. Verena

I have an idea. Why not use Orton. Oh wait....you did. Since I am a sucker for a good Orton image, I think I will stand up and cheer for this one, Absolutely gorgeous, Paul. Bravo, magnifico, and shazzaam!

How do you follow JimboB after his great comments. I like the treatment as is but it is Norton not Orton. JimboB should know better. This is good Opie.

I know I'm nuts but the pine straw caught my eye first... It's a beautiful garden with full spring blooms. Lovely contrasts. I hope you can return for a morning shoot too.

Whatever you used for treatment it looks good to me, but I'm not the expert with these programs. I'm lucky if I get to take the photo in the first place!

Have you tried messing about with the hue/saturation to reduce the lightness?
A beautiful looking scene filled with fabulous colours. A lovely reflection and composition. Very nicely done.

Hey Paul,

Had a thought, that being this ...

You could offer up the base image of your photo here for others to post process. Similarly to what happened on this thread:

"Post Process Another's Photo"

If that is a consideration for you, let me know and I can assist on the what, how stuff.

Question though, did you shoot this one originally as a RAW or jpeg?

And since I am here, and was just reminded of a good good tutorial for Ortonizing ... here you go:

"3 Layer Orton Video Tutorial"

A lil' more creative control via the above is put into your creative hands.

Caveats?

I suspect that you did more than a good good job already, however, being bold?

Little too sharpened, in my humble opinion. Kind of loses that nice 'soft' feeling and presentation in my final (and once again, humble) analysis.

Perhaps some adjustments/tweaks could be made if you were to revisit this one again?

Still, pleasant to view though. As this is an inviting and tranquil piece of real estate regardless. :o)
