This looks like the sort of place boys might not have wanted to go to, but to find the real meaning you will need to do abit of fishing!! My entry into the contest.

As in a fishing smack, a single or double-masted fishing boat that featured a well to keep the catch alive. Young boys were nimble and so were often found crewing these boats (this, of course, would have been long ago before the advent of child labor laws). Beautiful architecture; I'd imagine this place is on the National Register? If not, it should be. Beautiful colors and I like the use of vignetting here.

You made a great job of this shot Ann - the vignetting suits it well and the detail is really fine.
Quite sad in a way - poor wee fellas - this was their home and I bet their life on the smacks was not that great. An interesting piece of history

A wonderful shot of this fantastic place, it's a beautiful old building with so much history! (I'm wondering what it is used for now). I really enjoyed 'fishing' for information on the "smack boys"! Thank goodness 10 year old boys don't have to work anymore. Good luck in the contest:)
