Upon viewing this dagger in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara, Turkey, I was greatly impressed with the craftsmanship. "Dagger with scabbard, gold and iron, Alacahoyuk, second half of the 3rd millennium BC. Length 18.5 cm." Thanks very much for advice and comments, always appreciate it.

Like you always do to me following one of your trips, I found myself at the mercy of Google looking for this dagger. It did not take long, it was the very first image turning up in my search. The Alaca Hoyuk Iron Dagger. Made from the iron of a meteorite. What is amazing about it is that the Bronze Age was barely going on when it was made and most of the world had no knowledge of iron weapons yet. Can't wait for your next trip! :)

Vicki, I like to join me in the amazement as already expressed in the comments above. Hard to imagine that in that era one was capable to make a dagger of such a high quality/sophistication. Your keen eyes and your photographic skills performed a perfect match again, resulting in this, from historical point of view, very interesting photograph, 👍 !
