In one of my photobooks, I have included this capture (my godson), we were sailing in the sea near Kalamata ... I have added this quote in the book: "It is out there at sea that you are really yourself - Vio Dumas". I am always in awe of my connection with the sea, and when I came across this quote, it was exactly how I feel. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Vicki, my grandfather (a seaman too) taught me in my youth that you should respect the sea. During my long maritime career I found that he was right. In calm seas there was wonder and admiration and in storm there was awe. Your quote is very well chosen. At sea you are on your own. In fact, the sea holds up a mirror to you for which there is no room for subterfuge.
That is why I recognize a lot in your narrative. Your photograph is a very appropriate one. That's why I like this post very much!

I love this photo, I love and respect the sea. I totally agree with Cornelius. And I am happy to say that I've been in Kalamata a few times.
