These are such skittish birds that I was shocked when I got one in this pose. They usually fly away at the least noise. They are the size of a chicken.

Superb capture, Vivianne! I have never seen a Common Moorhen, and must say it is really beautiful. Outstanding details, DOF, composition and colours! I have seen a number of bird images perched in that type of tree. Do you happen to the know the name of the tree? Saved + faved! :)
