Some sort of indoor plant that curls up on its stem. Looks like it likes the sunlight. I don't think I want to touch it but it's so curious. No! I resist the urge.
It's one of the many Coleus species (Solenostemon scutellarioides) Frank. The 'curled' leaves might indicate that there's either a watering versus sunlight problem (a coleus does less well in full sun) or that the plant is suffering from a disease or has some tiny aphids. I agree with you that the situation is not normal.
I hope however that I'm wrong so that the plant still has a long time to go and you can enjoy it.
