The Chance Meeting Of Gaia and Theia

“In the beginning, God created the earth, and he looked upon it in His cosmic loneliness.

And God said, “Let Us make living creatures out of mud, so the mud can see what We have done. ” And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close to mud as man sat up, looked around, and spoke. Man blinked. “What is the purpose of all this? ” he asked politely.

“Everything must have a purpose? ” asked God.

“Certainly, ” said man.

“Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this, ” said God.

And He went away. ”
Kurt Vonnegut, Cat's Cradle

“There will be time, there will be time

To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;

There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,

And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea. ”
T.S. Eliot, The Wasteland, Prufrock and Other Poems

Lacrimosa, Requiem mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Xaver Sussmayr

John, I checked-out your link and was very amazed about the theory that a hypothesized ancient planet collided with the early Earth around 4.5 billion years ago, with some of the resulting ejected debris gathering to form the Moon.
Amazing to me as well was that you were capable to visualize this 'event' this in such an excellent way.
The quote and poem are, per usual, perfectly by you selected.
About the music link, I would (teasingly) say: due to recent developments, I hope it's not the requiem mass for Mother Earth itself, 😁 !

The first one is true; the rest fell out of the south end of a north-bound sheep. I had to come up with something to stall for time while I arrived at the proper comment on this gorgeous piece of art. John, John, John, y'know for the last dozen or more years I always thought that Vlad (you remember Vlad?) and Lori (you remember Tealeaves?) were the premiere digital artists on this site. There have been a number of your past pieces that have placed you solidly in their company and this one just anchors that. Wow. The detail. The colors. The frozen action. It reminds me of Marcel Duchamp's "Nude Descending a Staircase". I love strong contrasts of warm colors and black anyway, so the only disappointment involved here for me is that I can make it a favorite only once. Making it my new screen background goes without saying.
