Out yesterday for a little shoot around the house. This little Eastern Bluebird was just about to fly off to his nest for the night when I was able to get a quick shot against the dying light of the evening. In the shot, I enjoy the patterns created from the branches in the background and how I was able to capture an opening in the pattern to frame the little bluebird nicely. I'm a big fan of silhouettes in general so happy to add this one to the collection. I created a whole gallery from the photo shoot called "Back Yard Kentucky" so check it out and let me know which one is your favorite! http://speculumanimaphotography.squarespace.com/back-yard-kentucky

Great explanation to go with a great composition Chris. I like how you know what you want before you take the shot.
I too love silhouettes and this is a good one.
I enjoyed your "Back Yard Kentucky" gallery. I'm a St. Louis Cardinal fan, so guess which ones I really liked.
Have a good week.

A well taken photo with the bird on the thin branch. I have taken one or two similar silhouettes before. It must be still here.(I have more than 3000 photos still on caedes)

Remarkable scene, captured perfectly. Your creation is simply stunning. Favorite for me. The lighting, the silhouette ... breathtaking.
